It is with much regret that we note the passing of Jack Taylor, a long-time member of the Montefiore Advisory Council and its special advisor on conservation.
Jack was a staunch supporter of the work of the Montefiore Endowment for almost as long as we can remember. He took special interest in our collection of rare manuscripts, at first working with his own hands to remedy many years of neglect and then organising and supervising their expert conservation, a task only recently completed. It is largely due to his efforts that our unique ‘core collection’ has now been suitably preserved for future generations.
A valued personal friend of many of us at the Lauderdale Road Synagogue and at the Montefiore Endowment, Jack will be sorely missed. We send our condolences to Diana as well as to Emma and Louisa and their families and pray that they may be comforted from heaven and spared further sorrow.
