The Collection of Books on loan to University College, London

The books on loan to University College London are held in two separate locations.

  1. The Hebrew and Jewish Studies Library, Gower Street, London
These books are kept on open shelves and are available to students for use. Some of the older volumes are in store. For access, contact Vanessa Freedman at UCL, who is the subject librarian for Hebrew and Jewish Studies; she can be reached either via the enquiry desk of the Main Library on 020 7679 7793 or via www.ucl.ac.uk/library/.
  2. The Special Collections Library and Strong Room, Hampstead Road, London
These more valuable books and manuscripts contain a very large number of volumes, many bearing Sir Moses Montefiore's bookplate. They also include letters, diaries, account books, scrolls and other papers relating to Sir Moses and to Judith Lady Montefiore. The collection of Testimonials is also kept in this library. Access can be arranged through the Special Collections Librarian.
